There being nothing new at the theaters we decided to see Transformers 2: Revenge of the Fallen instead of waiting for it on Blu-Ray. The image below features Optimus Prime. He's the chief of the good guy robots. If you liked the first movie, you'll certainly like this one. It's been out for a few weeks but there was a good crowd at the 7:10 PM showing.
As we were leaving I said to my wife, "That was pretty good but parts of it didn't make sense". She said, "Parts of it"? Well OK, most if it didn't make much sense but it you expect a movie like this to make sense, you should not be seeing movies like this.
Apparently, the Fallen were a race of robots who came to Earth thousands of years ago and were defeated by the Primes (I think). The chief of the Fallen is still somewhat alive on the moon (or somewhere in outer space). He needs something called the Matrix to come completely back to life and his robot minions (our friends the Decepticons) are looking for it. And Sam (Shia LaBoeuf) has the key, but as usual, is completely clueless.
The computer graphics in this are so good that you don't even think about them. My only real beef with the movie is that when the robots fight (which takes up at least a third of the screen time) it is very difficult to tell what's going on. There is so much whirling about, noise, explosions, flying parts, and smoke, it's difficult to tell who's winning until the end. Even then I wasn't sure sometimes.
