Song of the Week - Crawling by Linkin Park

I have 7,518 songs on iTunes. This is one of them.

I first became aware of Linkin' Park through their videos and then bought their Reanimation CD. I also own their debut CD Hybrid Theory (2000) and Meteora (2002). I only have 1 song from their 2006 release called Minutes to Midnight. I'm not a big fan of either rap music or hard rock but the combination of the two that Linkin Park performs somehow appeals to me. A review I read of Minutes to Midnight suggest that maybe they've changed their formula a bit but the one song I have ("Bleed It Out") sounds like classic Linkin' Park to me. By the way, my kids hate Linkin' Park.

Most of their songs are pretty angst filled and some are downright depressing. I've included the lyrics for "Crawling" so you can understand the terrible time the singer is having.

Crawling in my skin
These wounds they will not heal
Fear is how I fall
Confusing what is real

There's something inside me that pulls beneath the surface
Consuming/confusing
This lack of self-control I fear is never ending
Controlling/I can't seem

[Bridge:]
To find myself again
My walls are closing in
(without a sense of confidence and I'm convinced that there's just too much pressure to take)
I've felt this way before
So insecure

[Chorus]

Discomfort, endlessly has pulled itself upon me
Distracting/reacting
Against my will I stand beside my own reflection
It's haunting how I can't seem...
o find myself again
My walls are closing in
[Without a sense of confidence / I'm convinced there's just too much pressure to take]
I?ve felt this way before
So insecure...
