Song of the Week - White Wedding by Billy Idol

I have 6,432 songs in iTunes. This is one of them.

There's a lot of white over most of the country this week and my iPod in its alphabetical guest has come to songs which start with white.

White Dove - John Vanderslice
White Dress - Fairport Convention
White Flag - Dido
White Fright Liner Blues - Jimmie Dale Gilmore
White Ladder - David Gray
White Line - Neil Young
White Rabbit - Jefferson Airplane
White Riot - The Clash
White Room - Cream
White Shadows - Coldplay
White Wedding - Billy Idol
White Winter Hymnal - Fleet Foxes
White, Discussion - Live

There was hardly anyone bigger in the 1980s than Billy Idol. His videos were in heavy rotation on MTV, his albums sold millions and his shows sold out. The 1990s were not so kind. He was in a motorcycle accident in 1990 in which he nearly lost his leg. The music world changed but he didn't. He nearly died of a drug overdose in the mid-1990s. He's still around but much lower key these days.

"White Wedding" is a good song, but my first choice from that list would be "White Room"...

The playing of "White Wedding" at my school's senior class dance back in '83, was the backdrop for a significant moment in my high school life. And that's where I'm ending the story.
