"It breaks your heart. It is designed to break your heart. The game begins in spring, when everything else begins again, and blossoms in the summer, filling the afternoons and evenings, and then as soon as the chill rains come, it stops and leaves you to face the fall alone. You count on it, rely on it to buffer the passage of time, to keep the memory of sunshine and high skies alive, and then, just when the days are all twilight, when you need it most, it stops."

I like your tour. You may not be able to do this at the gym, but what I've found works to help me pass the time on the treadmill is to buy DVD collections of old ballgames. I'm going through the 1979 Series right now. You can find them on ebay pretty reasonable and I know they have (through A & E Home Entertainment) '75, '79, '86, '01, '05-'09 and selected other games (Yankees games from the late 90's, Essential Games of Shea Stadium and Busch Stadium, Cubs games and Cal Ripken Games).
MMayes, that's a good idea, but like you say, won't work well at the gym. Another thought might be to record games on the MLB Channel. Saturday night I caught part of a 1989 Phillies-Pirates game. The score was 11-11 in the 8th inning.
Hmm, think he was married to a Hooter's girl at one time and think there may be a married set in the future, ala Nancy and Ray Knight. Any thoughts
Yes indeed he was married to a Hooters girl. I even have a Hooters trading card featuring her. I posted it here: http://capewood.blogspot.com/2008/02/1993-phillies-world-series-team-daulton.html
Sorry, I don't know how to turn that into a link in a comment.
Easy to find! Enjoyed the comments made about Mitch Williams by Daulton. Thought he was the best up to that point. Not a Phillie Phan, but love the Tigers. Still say they had the best team money could buy last year and still not win it. Oh well, as the artful Dodger used to say, "Wait till next year!"
