I haven't done one of these posts for awhile.
This is the 1985 Topps Traded Card #121 of Derrel Thomas. Derrel was purchased by the Phillies from Miami of the Florida State League in May 1985. He appeared in 63 games for the Phillies before being released at the end of the season. He ended his career with the Phillies.Thomas actually had a pretty long career. He was the Astros #1 draft pick in 1969 but only played 5 games for them in 1971. He spend most of his career with the Dodgers, Giants and Padres. He was a .249 batter and mostly played in the center of the field, shortstop, second base and center field. He appears to have been a starter through most of his career. Wikipedia doesn't have much to say about him except that he is one of a few players who have played every position (except pitcher) at least once in his career. He also has a World Series ring, with the 1981 Dodgers.
